Cruz To The Giants

Will Victor Cruz be a New York Giant in fantasy football 2013? At this point, it doesn’t appear that he will have a whole lot of other options. There is an outside chance that someone could decide to step up close to draft day (or more than likely on draft day itself) and turn over their first round draft pick to the Giants if they are able to reach a deal with Cruz. There hasn’t appeared to be much interest in Cruz so far, and on one hand, it is understandable, and on the other, not so much.

The problem that a lot of teams are looking at when it comes to wanting to make Cruz a member of their team for fantasy football 2013 on the surface would appear to be that teams appear unwilling to want to give up a first round draft pick (because of Cruz’s status as a restricted free agent). That would seem like a steep enough price on its own, but that price becomes even steeper when teams see the reason why Cruz doesn’t have a deal with the Giants: he is asking for a lot of money. There are probably not a lot of teams willing to give up a first round draft pick and overpay for a wide receiver this late in the offseason.

On the other hand, Cruz is still very young and has proven that he is very talented. He is far and away better than any other wide receiver who could wind up going in the first round of the draft. So if a team is considering spending a first-round pick on a wide receiver anyways, why not get one of who could pay considerable dividends in fantasy football 2013 right away? It’s a question teams will have to ask as the draft approaches.

So many people want to know the future of Cruz, but even if he is unable to play for the Giants, they should be more than fine in 2013. For starters, they will have the benefit of using Eli Manning to get all of their receivers and tight ends the ball. They also have a solid running game that is ever changing, in a defense that is at least mediocre. This is not the greatest team on paper, but they certainly have the ability to match other teams and give them a run for their money.
